For a "Casse Croute", or greasy spoon, it doesn't get much better. Nestled in Montebello on a picturesque site on the Ottawa River, the Belle Bedaine does it right. Quebec has the best fries in North America, and the BB keeps up the double-cooked tradition but finishing them off in caramel infused oil for a slight sweetness. This also why you'll find vinegar on the tables and no ketchup, this is vintage Quebecois fare. Nothing fancy, just traditional counter service fare, Hot Dogs are steamed or grilled, (Pic shows them Grilled and "All Dressed") and one of the best Club Sandwiches anywhere!
Best part is it's Licensed for Draft Beer that doesn't suck and wine, unique for this class of restaurant, and which could be worked off after on a stroll through Chateau Montebello just down the road. In the best Michelin tradition, worth a detour off of Highway 50. -

It's hard to screw up french fries. They were cooked too many times and served burnt. Yuck.
Les frites étaient trop cuit et brûlé. Terrible.
